Urn Garden

This is one of the newest gardens within the Master Gardeners Display Garden, established in 2023 after a member donated the stone fountain which became its focal point.  The fountain now serves as a planter which featured a rare Voodoo Lily in the Spring of 2024.  Learn more about this intriguing plant at https://www.thespruce.com/voodoo-lily-1315768.

The Urn Garden bridges the gap between the Japanese Garden and the Compost Garden with a backdrop of two Blue Muffin Arrowood Viburnum which boasts white flowers in Spring and blue berries in Autumn.  The second layer of screen plantings are three Kodiak Red Diervilla, a noninvasive bush honeysuckle which produces yellow flowers in the spring and bright red Fall foliage.  The front of the bed is lined with Ladies Mantel, prized for its beautiful blue green foliage that occasionally collects shining gems of raindrops along its lacey edges.  The remainder of the bed, as well as the fountain, are filled with annuals which change each growing season.

As you can see, this small garden has a lot to offer.  Stop by next year to see if that rare lily makes a reappearance, to see how this new garden is growing in beauty, or to learn more about the outstanding shrubs that anchor this garden.
