Good to Grow Garden
In an attempt to showcase plants that do well in our southern Indiana climate, we have set aside a “Good to Grow Trial Area” where we experiment with a variety of plants.
This garden is loosely modeled after the Plants of Merit at the Missouri Botanical Garden. For more information on their program and to see a list of plants that perform well in the lower Midwest, visit the Botanical Garden’s Plants of Merit.
Plants of Merit Selection Criteria
•Easy to grow and maintain
•Not known to be invasive in our area
•Resistant or tolerant to diseases and insects
•Has outstanding ornamental value
