Advanced Master Gardener
Update: Gale Wright passed away the summer of 2016.
Gale Wright has lived in her home in Chandler for over 25 years. She is a retired nurse and stays active with her gardens. She became a SWIMGA Master Gardener in 2009. Gale volunteers for SWIMGA in various ways: She works on the newsletter; data entry hours for our badges; volunteers to work in a garden for our Garden Walks and any other project she has time and interest in working.
Her beautiful pond was an evolving project. She started out small, then enlarged the pond and finally is satisfied with the size she has it now. The pond was installed in 1999. It holds 1500 gallons of water and is 3’ deep. Two pictures below show the beautiful tropical water lilies that float in her pond, giving shelter to the Koi fish and beauty to Gale. She has a huge yellow Butterfly Koi that is approximately seven (7) years old, along with several other types of Koi. It was enjoyable sitting on her deck listening to the waterfall, with her wonderful lemonade she shared with me.
Gale has a love of lighthouses and has been to many places in order to view them: Maine, New England; Michigan; Washington state; Oregon; California and Nova Scotia. Several are used as ornamentation in her gardens.
Her gardens contain: Yellow ‘False Sunflowers’; Peonies; Hibiscus; 50 different Iris; Red Castor Bean; Clematis; and a Wisteria that she has trained into a tree form. Her favorite flowers/plants ~ Iris and Hostas. Many colors of Columbine are blooming in the spring all through her gardens.
She has Datura, Angel Trumpets and a red Shrimp plant in pots on her front entrance. Click on each picture to enlarge.
